Then, because I'm a perfectionist, I thought: That just won't cut it. So I sewed on piece of black ribbon to make a bow. Yay. But then, because I'm also an idiot, I decided to wash it ... forgetting that RED dyes tend to bleed RED, especially on WHITE. Oops.
The white pieces are now more of a coral/pink tie-dye. Kind of ruins the effect I was going for, but it's not that big of a deal. All in all, I'll live. The pillow was meant as a floor cushion for myself because I tend to do all my work (like typing this post) while sitting on the floor.
What I am annoyed about is that I washed that pillow WITH my comforter. I've had that comforter since I was really little and now there's large red smears on it. Any solutions?

Oh man, that's too bad! I think the pillow looks kind of cool with the pink (although obviously it was meant to have white - just trying to look on the bright side), but that is really too bad about your comforter. Did you dry it?

ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry about your comforter. Red dye is tough to remove. But since I don't have a solution, maybe I can at least make you laugh...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little kid, my sister and I both had stuffed monkeys. Hers was red. One day, unbeknownst to anyone at our house, she put her monkey in the washing machine, which was empty and "off" at the time. The next day my mother did a load of laundry, she placed white sheets and my father's underwear(!) into the washer without looking into it. After all, it was empty - or so she thought. Well you can imagine everyone's shock to see that wet wash come out of the machine ready for the clothesline - pink sheets, pink men's underwear and a soggy monkey!!!
Nothing removed the dye and while we decided that pink sheets were ok, my Dad wanted no part of the pink underwear!!!
